A brief history of FootJoy Golf Shoes;
- Founded in 1857 and originally named Burt & Packard Shoe Company, this was changed shortly afterwards to Field & Flint Company.
- 1927 Field & Flints line of FootJoy golf shoes became the official shoe for the then Ryder Cup team, then Captained by Walter Hagen
- In 1945 FootJoy wins it’s first golf shoe count on the U.S PGA Tour
- 1957 Stone/Tarlow families purchase Field & Flint Co
- 1959 Production moved to Massachusetts
- 1970 name officially changed to FootJoy Inc
- 1975 controlling interest in FootJoy purchased by General Mills Inc
- 1977 General Mills Inc acquires full ownership
- 1979 golf gloves now produced, the first being StaSof
- 1980 Cabretta leather now used in production
- 1981 Golf socks introduced into company production
- 1985 Acushnet Company acquires FootJoy from General Mills Inc
- 1995 glove production moved to Thailand
- 1996 50 millionth FootJoy golf glove sold globally
- 1999 introduction of the Classic Dry Premiere golf shoe with 2 year guarantee
- 2008 StaSof glove celebrates 25 years as number 1 glove in golf
